Rear lights stay on ..............

Getting back from Tesco tonight i noticed that the rear lights on my beloved 156 2.4 SW were glowing a nice dull red , the keys were in my pocket and the ignition wasn't in park . Any ideas .

Re: Rear lights stay on ..............

Isn't this the classic rev counter Chip u/s? The chip on the rev counter blows and causes an earth leak that illumionates the rear light. Lots of info here if you do a search but the fix is to change the rev counter. Quite cheap on ebay for a second hand one and easy to change. Some info here.

Re: Rear lights stay on ..............

What Mitch said, this is a common problem with a easy fix change rev counter with same model, takes 5 - 10 mins. remove circular trim around rev counter and you will see screws that hold it in, unplug, refit , job done...had same problem on mine, cost me 15 on fleabay
