Re: need duplicate of key!!

It depends. There's basically two costs to getting a new key. First is the key itself. New keys are only available from Alfa Romeo via a dealer and cost about £120.

Second is the cost of getting the new key coded to your car. If you know the key code and blip code you can get an independent Alfa specialist to do it for you and might only charge you £10. If you dont have the codes then you'll have to have the key coded at an Alfa dealer and they'll probably charge you about £80.

So you are looking at £130ish if you have the codes and a friendly independent Alfa specialist. Or £200ish if you do it all through a dealer.

Re: need duplicate of key!!

I am getting new GT keys at the moment and my local franchised dealer wants 137 each + 35 to code them. The local indie dealer wants 270 for 1 key or 320 for 2. It takes 3 to 5 days for the keys to be delivered from order.

I would suggest you phone a few places in your area to get the best price. I would definitely recommend you to get a spare asap - otherwise you will end up in trouble, like me !

Re: need duplicate of key!!

There are a number of specialist locksmiths who are able to cut these keys, and copy the transponder into the new key head. This means that you can use the key manually and the engine will start but you won't have the "plip" remote function, so it's fine as a spare/second key.

It should be worth a few calls from Yellow pages, look for MLA (Master Locksmith Association) members, they should be able to point you in the right direction and save you a few quid!
