Moaning Why does my selespeed hate me!

Hey guys i'm looking for any help i can get here, i've got a rough idea what's wrong, but if anyone knows better feel free to correct!

After 700 worth of repairs, i was hoping for a clear year which turned into a clear month!

Driving home, my selespeed warning light came on, the car got stuck in gear for roughly 300 yards, then it was fine, then a few hours later coming into town, the same thing happened, then later the car wouldn't start and the warning light just flashed, but after a few attempts it was fine.

But sadly now, the car just wont start at all,the selespeed light is flashing, it's in gear, and facing into a parking space (which i never normally do), and is gonna have to be winched out backwards as I weap!

i believe it is the pump/motor/ brushes for the selespeed, but the fluid resivoir is well above max (2 weeks ago it was perfect), which would suggest before the pump/motor died it forced the fluid back through the system!

Can anyone help/agree/disagree!

I suspect the pump is the cause of your predicament. Evidence being the flashing light and the 'high' level in the reservoir.
When the pump is working the level in here sits at the normal mark & when the pump is off the fluid slowly bleeds back into the reservoir. If you ever check it without causing the pump to run you would see how high the level sits with the system off.

Whether a clout of the motor on the pump might get you a start or not is worth a try, as are a clean of the relays in front of the battery box (do a search as there are plenty of posts on here about this).

As for repairs to the pump, new bushes would be the first place to start (cheapest, I'm sure there's a thread that says an Audi alternator bust is very similar) before getting into new pumps.

It may then need a visit to a dealer/specialist to be re-calibrated and have any fault codes reset just to round things off.

Good luck.

Cheers boss, i'll have a crack in the morning, but it sounds like a visit to Arnold 'Shark' Clark on Monday!
