Re: 147 economy?
Took my JTDm 16v down to Plymouth last week (about 140 miles). I did a bit of an experiment: on th eway down I stuck as close to 70 mph as possible and avoided heavy acceleration etc. I got 47 mpg on that run. On the way back I drove as I normally would and got 40 mpg (including 25 minutes stuck in stop - start traffic).
It's worth noting that the car has only done 600 miles and still needs to loosen up a bit, so I imagine (and hope!) that those figures will improve over time. Both figures were taken from the trip computer.
It's also worth noting that I've never been able to match manufacturers fuel consumption figures in any car I've driven, so I'm obviously not the most economical driver!
Bottom line though, even with MUCH higher fuel costs, the diesel 147 was still cheaper on that run than my old 2.0 TS GTV ever was, where my consumption was similar to tony44.
