Hi David C,
Sorry to be a pest but can you clarify a few points for me please?
1. Can I put the coolant in and then top up with water or do I have to mix it beforehand?
I was planning on putting in the 5 Litres and then just topping it up with water or is that a bad idea?
Or shall I put in say 4 Litres then top up the remaining 3.2 Litres?
If it isnt pre-mixed will I knacker the car?
2. you said-
"Re the heater, it will drain out even when it is off.
But when you refill, turn to hot just to make sure it bleeds properly."
Now when I refill, you say turn to hot but doesnt that mean the engine has to be turned on for the electonic heater to work? Or put the key at the MAR position - which last time I did that for the lights the battery drained and the immobiliser came on!
I don't get it!
Have done a radiator coolant change before, but on a Rover Metro where the heating is a bit more mechanical so leaving the heater sliders open was more mechanical.
Or shall I forget the heater thing and just drain, fill, and then when its all in, turn the engine over and top up if need be?
3. My car is 2001, not sure if the radiator has been done before so do you recommend putting in a 'flush' or will water from a hose suffice?
Many, many thanks in advance!
