That may well be because at the time Selenia only made a 10w-60 fully synthetic, and the fact that the engine will burn less of it during enthusiastic driving.

Too thick oil can cause foaming and skidding in bearings and subsequent failure. The oil will also cause more drag in the bearings, and be harder for the oil pump to circulate.

You wouldn't use a 20w-50 oil in a car nowadays, but it is actually thinner than a 10w-60 at operating temperature.
