147 JTD dashboard rattle - what to do?

I have had my second hand 147 JTD 16v for a couple of months and love it, except for one little niggle.

There is a rattle/creak/vibration/buzz-type noise that appears to come from behind the dashboard.

Apologies if this is an old topic. I've had a search around on here and found some rattle mentions but not sure what to do or what it could be.

The buyers guide linked to from the site mentions potential wishbone issues, other posts suggest it may simply be general Alfa issues.

The front suspension does creak a bit when hitting the odd speed bump

My questions are:

1) Is this likely to be caused by something that needs fixing, or just a rattle?

2) If it's an everyday rattle any thoughts on how I fix it?

3) I've still got a warranty from the second hand car dealership, should I take it back to them and will they fix it?

Would greatly appreciate any thoughts

if its a creak noise that comes under acceleration and not as much when your foot is off the gas then it can be that the engine mounting brackets have weakened - it happened on my sele at about 80K miles. replaced at an indie for not much ££.

Re: 147 JTD dashboard rattle - what to do?

Not sure if this is a suspension issue mate but can you press on the long plastic air vent at the base of the windscreen on the top of the dashboard when you hear the noise?

If you can does the noise disappear?

I've found this vent to be a bl**dy nuisance in this respect in my brand new 147 JTDm. This vent is a lightweight plastic component and is particulary vulnerable to engine vibration, uneven road surfaces and acceleration/deceleration movement.

I've managed to silence it having introduced some DIY methods.

But hey....it could be the suspension after all. Just a thought.

my jtd 8v has a really noticeable rattle from the engine cover. You know the great big peice of plastic on top of the engine? I've tried rubber washers and all sorts but can't seem to stop it at all revs.
