Urgent Help-new Engine Required And Very Wary Of The Con Merchants
A newbee to the club,in desperate need of advice on making a decision about which company i should use to take on the replacement of the engine of my 156. the engine blew up on the M4 on Friday- hairy stuff when your doing 70MPH! I only had it 8 months of which i have been abroad 4 months working, so desperately gutted, make matters worse-purchased of my best mate-dont blame him at all but he is a life long alfa lover, got me converted, so this is my first alfa car... and well you can imagine how it feels... though absolute loved driving the car for the brief time i had it, and love the design as well... so have been doing my research and it has all become very daunting, and to be honest confusing... my biggest concern is being ripped of by a company who claim to provide reputable recon engines, when all they do i guess is staem cleam recovered ones and slam them in-only to discover the start of a nightmare a few weeks later... can ANYONE PLEASE recommend a good, honest, reputable company that will put a replacement/recon engine in my car... sadly my engine is well and trully gone to the great skies above as the conrod has popped out from the bottom .. ahmen...
Ineed to make a decision ASAP as the garage the aa towed it to want me to move it as they wont take the work on... having done my research on this site, the two companies that seem to stand out are L&M in Bucks and autolusso in whipsnade.... does anyone have experience with these 2 companies on the engine replacement side of things...? or any knowledge otherwise-ANY advise much appreciated... i am more then happy to pay a premium in price if i were to know that i was getting great job done... the going rate for an engine replacement is apx 1400 to 1700 pounds apx-am i correct- also anything else i should have done while i am having the engine replaced- to last me a few years-makes sense to do it now??
Cheers guys... i hope you can help-any advice or reommnedations much appreciated on this
ps does anyone know a cheap towing company or guy to take on the job of taking the car to the chosen garage when the desicion has been made..?
