Re: 147 selespeed paddles
thanks for the replies. I have done a bit more investigating....
Took the airbag off and ran a few tests on the paddles and other steering wheel buttons. I detected the change in voltage across the circuit board (inside the steering wheel) when the paddles were pressed/released etc. The signal was also sent to the other side of the steering wheel to the connecting plug. So I am assuming the connection over the steering wheel works. It works for all the other buttons (unless there is something I am missing?)
This could mean several things now:
1) the voltage created is incorrect, meaning a fault in the board inside the steering wheel. Does anyone know where I could find out what these voltages are supposed to be without taking the board out and working it all out...?
2) the problem goes further into the car and to the selespeed control unit. Has anyone any experience of finding a problem that goes further than the steering wheel or the steering column? I wouldn't know where to begin to look for a problem! Does anyone know where the selespeed control unit is? Is it worth having a look under the gearstick area?
Would plugging the car into a diagnostic computer be able to highlight the problem?
Sorry for the long post and numerous questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.
