Re: Broken Parking Sensor
dnorts - Did it all get done alright? Were they happy to fix it under warranty?
I just had to call H R Owen in London to get the same thing sorted for me. The car is normally parked on a street in West London, but I was staying with my sister and she lives in a nicer area and I parked on a drive, so I don't think anyone could have popped the sensor...
I've had very bad service from HR Owen already, although not initially. When I took the car in with a few [typical] GT new car niggles, they sorted it all out fine and told me that although the rattle from the boot is normal (beforehand), told me a really minor part is missing and that they had to order it from Italy - they didn't tell me exactly which part, but to be honest I didn't ask either. Fair enough. They said they'd call me back once it had arrived.
That was early May... I called them during late May a couple of times and spoke to their service manager (who'd been extremely helpful with me when I took the car in the first and second time (another story, but not their fault as someone had crashed their replacement car so couldn't let me have it, so I delayed the servicing!), especially as he owns exactly the same car - Blackline with Q2, so he knows all the flaws and foibles (his 3rd GT!!)... and was very sympathetic with the various little things I asked about.
Anyway, the first couple of times I called in May I spoke to him and he told me to wait. So I did - I went on holiday for a couple of weeks in June and got back and still no news. So I tried calling in July a few times. I never got to speak to anyone in the servicing dept. I kept on getting passed back to the receptionist/switchboard and was told several times that I'd be called back. I told them my details several times expecting a call back, but still nothing.
I got bored - the rattle from the boot seems to have got less since they had the car anyway, so no problems for me specifically.
So, now the sensor's packed in and I get the continuous noise (as if I'm right up against a wall) from the sensor being inside the bumper I hope that they will be able to fix it without ordering parts from Italy.
When I go there if they still haven't got their mysterious part in from Italy, then I'll ask what it is and take it to another garage (though H R Owen are conveniently about 2 miles from my place!).
Hmmm- I guess I didn't realise how much of a rant that became... oh well - better out than in!
