Wave Climate control/ Aircon and fuel consumption

I was wondering how much having the aircon on actually effects the fuel comsuption of my 147. Is it negligible, or does it actually make a big difference? And is it different depending on whether the aircon is in warming or cooling mode?
I know in older cars aircon significantly affected the consumption, but I hear this isn't really as much an issue for new cars.
With petrol now costing me 1.30 per litre (1) I want to cut down if I can at all!

Re: Climate control/ Aircon and fuel consumption

I have tried this in the past, it obviously should make a difference, but in reality it was unmeasurable.
