Viewed a GT last weekend... Opinions pls
Last weekend I viewed a GT. Here's a quick rundown.
Stromboli grey, tan leather interior with 18's. Test drive went well, no squeeks or knocks and we went over all sorts of different surfaces, including old cobbles. So I was pleased with that.
Wasn't sure about the clutch pedal. I have read on here that if the clutch bites towards the end of its travel, then that is a warning sign that it may be getting tired. But the the car has only done 28k? And, I am no alfa expert. I have only ever driven one alfa before this and that was my mates 147. I believe alfa's have 'funny' clutches (if you aren't used to them). Especially compared to an Audi! lol. So perhaps I was worrying about nothing?
I also noticed that when I took my foot off the brake pedal, the pad that your shoe presses against kinda knocked, as if it was loose. Nothing bad, something that I would have to look at though.
The drivers door had a nasty mark on the side (as it had been bumped into a wall), and I think it would be a full door respray to correct it. So not cheap.
Also something I noticed about both doors was that on the edge where they tuck in behind the front wings when opening, the paint had been literally worn down to the base coat as the doors were rubbing on what I think was a rubber seal behind the front wings. Anybody heard of this before?
3 of the wheels were scuffed up, one rather badly. So thats 3 refurbs.
Finally the car stank of fags. Not nice, but can be sorted out with a good vallet, or two...
Also, average MPG was about 32, in a diesel. Concerned me a bit, but she did live on the side of a valley and we never manged to get further than 4th on the 45 min test drive! And she only has to drive 5 mins before she's at work.. So I think it could have something to do with that..
I managed to get owner down in price by £300. But my concern is that to correct the door, the wheels and get rid of the faggy smell, it will cost me at least £500.
What do you think?
