Haven't had a chance to do anything today been, but in traffic after work as soon as the car got up to temp (just below 90) I whacked the heaters on full, the temperature did go to a bit above 90 and enough to usually turn on the fans (they didn't come on) but it didn't get too hot by any means.
However, the issue has just taken a strange twist:
After visiting my grandparents, the car having been parked up in the rain for 3 hours, I come out and I can hear the fans spinning?!
The central locking doesn't work, and when I use the key in the door the alarm sounds. The car won't start either. So I jumped it off my brother's old reliable 14 year old Volvo
The fans have drained the battery!
Car got me home fine and I have since parked it up, the fans aren't running now.. What could be causing the fans to run while the car was off and cold, it was locked up and keys were in the ignition.
Now as I understand, the circuit for switching on the fans on the V6 is negatively switched, here is a drawing, is that actually correct:
