As far as I know the dampeners are still made of a rubber/chocolate composite that this why mine really needs the suspension looked at after I have had her sorted out cosmetically.
I think all 156 face-lifts come with side skirts, but, I would recommended getting the spoiler too. This can be added afterwards, but, I truly feel it adds something to the car.
I only know of the 156 having 3 trim levels Turismos(sp?) (most basic), Lusso (middle) and Veloce (Top spec.)
Just keep an eye out for a good model, don't rush into buying on like I almost did and if you find a good one but something is missing (i.e. side-skirts,) you can have them fitted.
Think about getting the better mechanical car before the best looking car. Adding side-skirts et al would be cheaper then getting new suspension and a new engine
