Wiper Motor

My rear wiper is sticking half way along it's cycle. If the wiper is retracted away from the rear screen, it rotated fine, but as soon as there is any friction, it sticks at 12 o'clock.
Just spent 2 hours on checking my sticking wiper. Most of this was trying to get the rear panel off!!
Afetr taking off the motor, spacer, cir-clip and sleeve, the motor shaft is surprisingly coroded. I cleaned the shaft and sleeve and re-greased.
No joy, and it's acts the same. If you feel the wiper when it's about to stick, you can feel a little judder. Is this the wiper with a lack of power and on it's last legs.

This is my biggest DIY job so far, and am disaapointed if it's the motor. However, I have left the panel off, as I can do without that again!! I appreciate any advice from you experts.

Re: Wiper Motor

I had the same problem, although unlike you ,I ruined the motor....

I got a rear wiper motor from ebay for 9.99 or something like that, replaced and has been fine ever since. There in one on ebay now but I think it is expensive (35 plus 10 p&p). Either wait for a while for something to come up, or try a few breakers.

I would have thought that cleaning and lubricating the shaft would do the trik though....

Re: Wiper Motor

After a night of the grease soaking in, it would appear the wiper works fine this morning.
As i don't do much Alfa DIY, I feel a warm glow!

Re: Wiper Motor

Thanks for explaining how to fix this issue as my rear wiper has been doing it a while now. Seems to be worse in the drier weather and also when a lot of grit salt is on the roads?? Works a little better in the wet.
