156 on a highway for the first time
Just took my 156 for first highway run, 150km one way and back. I found this car quite amazing. Having had GrandAm, Blazer and 4X4 Toyota before, it was an experience to deal with high rpm engine and Selespeed. Biggest problem was getting used to low speed gear switching in CITY mode. It felt like engine had no power at all to push through 2-3 gear shift. After trying few different techniques and playing with accelerator pedal, i gave up and switch to manual.
wow, what a difference...
now, about those 3000 rpm. I was sure all of you, guys were exaggerating about 3000 rpm, i though it was another urban legend, i was wrong. This car is really comes alive at 3000. To proof that i went on Rama IV at 3am and did 180km/hr... i love this car.
Well few other things, i didn't figure out yet:
Wipes: will not stop in low position after releasing control, instead just dead stop in the middle of the windshield as soon as control released. Same with any preset wiper speed settings. Am i missing something?
High beam: is there a switch to turn it on? control lever only flash high beam lights and switch on gear shift box doesn't do anything (however i checked it when gear was in neutral, maybe you need to engage gear? will check later...)
Thai police seems to appreciate this car. I went through 4 road blocks where they pulled over pretty much everyone. They gave me a look and never stopped. Well, new Alfa list price in Thailand is 2,1 mln baht ($70K) and thanks God, they cannot see my odometer millage numbers...
