147 - Not as advertised
So I decided to trade in my 147 (2001, Y, 2.0, Lusso, Silver. 73K) for something a little newer.
My spec was:
MUST be red;
Must be newer;
Must have lower milage;
Must have leather;
Must be 2 litre;
Must be 3 door;
Lusso with aircon and heated sets prefered.
MUST NOT BE SILLYSPEED!
I was hoping to trade mine in with a couple of grand cash.
Well, I found on Autotrader what I thought was the perfect car, at a dealer not too far from me (less than 20 miles), a lusso with black heated leather and aircon, so I went to look at it.
"Ah, yeah" the guy says, "my dad's been using it as a runaround"
We agreed on price and the dealer offered me to go for a test. That's when it all went **** upwards.
Firstly the milage on the car was greater than stated in the advert. Also it was flashing on and off. The "Service" light was on. I thinks to myself "he will need to sort all that out".
Pulled away on the test run and warmed her up a bit but at the next roundabout "DING! DING!" and the low oil pressure warning comes up, which happened again at the following roundabout.
I drove carefully back to the dealer and told him. He tried to check the oil, but couldn't as there was none showing on the stick! So I asked to see the service history but he couldn't find it (Advertised as FSH!) though he did have the reg. doc. which showed it to be a previous model year registration to that stated in his advert (2002, advertised as 2003). Also the engine number on the V5 (?) was listed as "UNKNOWN"!!!!!
Despite his assurance that he would put a years warranty on it I walked away at that stage.
The car is still advertised (with all the incorrect info) although the price is now a little lower.
The moral of this story is that if you go to look at a car like this be careful as it may have run out of oil, and I don't think warranty covers that!
THE ROXAS THAT I KNEW IS LONG GONE
