Air flow meter mounting question

Hi All,

Just been looking at the air flow meter mounting on my 1.9 diesel enfine.

I noticed that the connection between the air flow meter housing and the air filter housing looks odd. I will try and describe it and would be gratefull if others with the same car could tell me if it is normal or not.

Here goes: The maf housing (the tubular portion), where it mounts to the air filter housing seems to have a flat edge on an otherwise circular/ovular shape. At the position of the flat edge there seems to be a gap to the air filter housing, not sure if it is a real gap but the faces of each component do have a spacing between them.

As I am looking for reasons why I am suffering from low torque then this could be significant to me.

Could someone please take a look and let me know if they have the same situation ? I guess I could add a photograph if my description is poor.
