156 a bit rough and running warm

OK guys, these things may be unconnected but.....

My 156 2.0TS seems to be running a bit rough. I have noticed that she is a bit more 'growly' and not as smooth as she once was. I am also getting a slight hesitation occasionally after changing gear - nothing much but it didn't used to do that. I had not really thought too much of it until I put Sainsburys standard unleaded in last weekend - the problem seems worse now (normaly used Tesco super unleaded). I presume the MAF is the first place to look.......?

Also she seems to be running a little bit warm. Normal running is between 80 and 90, but recently it's going well over 90 and up towards 100 after a run. I have checked and the fan runs normally when the aircon is on and the second stage cuts in around 95 - 100.

The car has done 84000 miles, last serviced in January when the cambelts etc were done. I was advised that the rad was starting to look a bit corroded at the bottom - would this cause warm running (especially in the warm weather we are finally getting)?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Check your water level and the condition of the oil in the oil cap, this will give you an Idea of how badthe rad is, milky oil and low level means 1 of 2 things...either the rad has finally gone or the headgasket is going.
