I want to get a new car and have recently test drove a 147 GTA. Basically it blew me away but they seem a bit too hard to come by. Also the GTV V6 is high on my list.....but......
I just parked up next to a GT and after a few minutes looking around it I came to the conclusion they are one fine looking car. It's taken me a while to appreciate them as much as other Alfas. I think if I was to buy one I would opt for the JTD as the V6 is out of my price range. With a re-map do you think I would be satisfied with the extra power over my 2.0 TS? I'm really looking for a car that'll give me the 'wow' factor when I put my foot down. My twinnie tries hard but doesn't quite do it. Your input would be appreciated as I am in a very confused car state at present
But you could get a GTV V6 for less than half the price.. :hmm:
That is very true. As you can tell I am very confused. I think I should stick with what you say and go for the GTV. Probably the best all round option and will leave my credit card still looking respectable!!!
Only other thing to bear in mind are the new tax bands, V6 could cost you £450 to tax (not to mention Group 19-20 ins), GT JTD is currently only £145, and is going up to £200'ish.
Which is why I specifically pointed out only cars registered before March 2001
When you do the sums, the GT JTD is just to new to buy and run for less than a n 8-10 year old V6, unless you are doing MEGA miles. Depreciation is the big killer, but that's what you get if you want to drive a nice new model rather than the older one, some people think its worth it, others don't. Personal choice at the end of the day
Cheers Pud I've had my eye on all of those. I've got to sell my 147 first unless I find a good trade one to part ex it (some cheeky git offered me £3200 yesterday but I've also been offered £4500 and £4000 for it so all is not lost). Anyhow can't sell my car until I've had the dents sorted which it's booked in for on the 22nd
I realise about the tax bands but to be honest I'm (just about) ok with it as I treat my cars as a hobby as well as an essential so I don't mind ploughing my spare cash into them. I don't really go out much and buy music and clothes as much as I used to so what else is there to spend it on....other than handbags for my wife
