Re: Alfa GT.. 17'' or 18'' Wheels ?
Same story for me. I was driving a WRX, but I only had to drive a few miles away for work. Then they closed the office, I changed roles, and next thing you know I'm commuting to Hampshire every day.
90 miles per day. There was no way I was going to afford that. So I bought an Audi A4 estate. 1.9 TDI 130ps. It was solidly built and did the job, but had no soul, I hated the dull interior, and the seats were awful. I spotted a used GT for the same money and despite losing out on practicality (still got nothing to carry the mountain bikes!) I love it to bits. The JTD is frugal enough but still has some torquey pep, and because it's mostly motorway, the GT is better suited to the straight stuff than the WRX. It's more of a head turner than the WRX.
I'm tempted to go to 18"s, but I love those alloys on Shiny's GT. Suwheet. He's got suspension mods, which may improve ride over the bog standard set up, or he is used to a hard ride on 19"s.
Mine is at 91k now, and gets about 42mpg, and that's because my foot is still made out of lead.
