ABS Warning light....Stays On
Hi Alfa Persons here is a puzzzle to unravel. 156 2.0 ts wagon
Been doing my cam belt over the weekend, and an oil change etc ready for the summer you all know what I mean so whilst I had the front sitting on axle stands (from doing the cambelt) I thought what a good time to clean up the running gear, brakes etc.
I used some brake spray cleaner on the calipers and wiped everything clean, discs had some light rust around the outer edge so I thought
run the engine at idle and with the car in gear the hubs will rotate and I can sit next to it and derust the discs with a wire brush and some wet & dry, great all went well everything shiney bright like new again.
Now whilst doing this obviously one hub will slow down when one has pressure on it with the rubbing cleaning, in fact it is so easy to stop the hub from rotating when turn at idle speed in first gear, which did happen to me.
Job done, except that now my ABS light will not go out, never had a problem before this is a 10k mile car owned by me from new, no history of abs problems.
I have checked the usual suspects, all sensors connected, no broken cables, fluid all correct.
The car is still on the stands, no wheels on the front, the car was not even moving, the brakes were not being used.
I switch on, start engine, the abs light just stays lit, no other warning lights, brake pedal feels fine no different.
Can I reset it, can I disconnect the battery for a time and do a reset
or will it go off as soon as I actually drive the car again.
Help please any clues ideas ...please please not the main dealers I hate strangers fiddling with my car, especially when they take it in side and say "sorry sir" we cannot allow customers beyond the neutral
zone...insurance issues.......yes but you can **** about with my property and I cannot see what you think you are doing.
Like they want to hide something.
