Slick50 oil aditive, Am I in trouble?
I've changed the oil on my 147 JTD 16v after 10k using Selenia WR as usual. My mechanic convinced me to add the Slick50 mainly because it is supposed to decrease the oil operating temperatures. I got home and ran to the internet to search for information regarding Slick50. The result queries got me shocked, stuff like these were all over the internet:
NASA Lewis Research Center reports:
"In the types of bearing surface contact we
have looked at, we have seen no benefit. In some cases we have seen detrimental effect. The solids in the oil tend to accumulate at
inlets and act as a dam, which simply blocks the oil from entering.
Instead of helping, it is actually depriving parts of lubricant"
It seems to be common to all products using Teflon ...
Any one has any experience on this subject?, I'm seriously thinking of draining the all stuff out!!!
