Alfa GT 2.0

Petrol smell inside!

Just got my Alfa Gt 2.0 jts
its on an 08 plate and when in traffic with the climate control on there is a fairly strong smell of petrol

anyone had this experience or know how to stop it!?

Firstly check the fuel line connections where they meet the fuel rail.
Other than that it may be a problem with the fuel vapour recovery system.
On my 1st 156 I had a problem with the solenoid which sits under the driver side (On RHD) wheelarch liner. Instead of opening and allowing the fumes into the engine when it was running it was stuck shut which made the fumes vent to the engine bay. It is connected to the blue pipes that route into the wing area under the bonnet.

I assume the system is the same as on the GT. The part is made by Bosch BTW.
