Diagnose this sound - TwinSpark
I'm hearing noises from under the bonnet of my 147 2.0 TS that I don't like. It mainly occurs at steady throttle, generally under light engine loads (i.e. up a gentle incline), usually at low revs (~2000-3000rpm). If I back off the throttle it goes away, if I give it more throttle it goes away, if I drop a gear it goes away. That said, occassionally I've experienced it under full throttle at 4000-5000rpm.
If I had to guess I'd say it's pinging (or pinking as you Poms call it) - that's the kind of sound it's making - but my specialist can't fault it. So I'm wondering if it's the heat shield? What sort of noise does a loose/rattly heat shield make? Is it comparable to pinging/pinking/detonating?
Thanks in advance.
