Thought it might be worth posting an update . . .
Well the 145k 'S' reg 2.0 TS Rosso has gone to a new owner - £900 and he was the first buyer to see it
Its now been 7 months with the new car. It a 1.8 TS in silver/leather/alloys 'Y' reg bought with full Alfa (same local) dealer service history, two owners, and only 57K on the clock . . . oh and £2K. So far its been so little trouble that it seems more like a Toyota than an Alfa
On the good side, the fuel consumption is better by 4-5 mpg and it doesn't use oil. The bodywork is unmarked (so far!!). The seats are more supportive as you'd expect for 90k less miles. My 'manager' likes it (so I've done something right then
However, I'm not impressed with the amount of body roll compared to the 2.0 TS though maybe I have to wait for the suspension to sag a bit with age
Also when I'm driving it (25% of the time) it quite often gets called "you gutless piece of s**t" as it certainly doesn't cut it in the torque department. I still can't believe that 150cc makes so much difference!
+ve = no trouble, don't have to think about it, cheap to run.
-ve = if it wasn't for the badge I wouldn't know its an Alfa
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but count me with those that say "cubic centimetres matter" . . . . its my 5th Alfa now and I miss the comforting feeling of wondering whether you're actually going to get there . . . . . . . . .
