Re: 156 brake Problems
GD156...you are not alone!
My 156 2.0JTS SW's brakes are what can only be described as pish too!
I have had the vehicle since Dec'07 and this is the only fault I can make of the car.
So far I have changed all disks; front OMP drilled and grooved, rear black diamond grooved, pads changed all round to OMP fast road and sport. Whilst there is a minor improvement they are not what I would call "re-assuring". They are still soft and require extreme & progressive pressure to get you out of trouble under braking!
Our family vehicle is a Seat Alhambra TDi 130, and jumping from my Alfa into it, I nearly put myself through the windscreen just touching the brakes. If only I could have such brakes on my Alfa!
I have had the brakes bled etc...only thought now is to repace the breake fluid. The car is 5 years old and I would imagine still on the original fluid. Did suggest this to my mechanic who said in 40 years he had never totally replaced brake fliuid in a car, so he doubted it would be any use doing so.....but whatever! Anybody any advice if this will make a difference.
