Re: idle dipping

Should settle at about 900 rpm. More often is idling too high. Search the forums here, many idling problems lead to the MAF, sometimes this can simply be cleaned, other times it may have to be replaced.

Welcome to alfaowner.

Re: idle dipping

I'm not sure about Alfa's, but on my Fiat Coupe I removed the idle control valve, sprayed it with carb cleaner and put it back on and it was fine. Could be the MAF though as stated before, you can clean them with electrical component cleaner to remove any oil that's covering the surface and therefore giving false readings.

Re: idle dipping

very common problem on thw twinsparks. clean the throttlebody, if that doesnt work then clean inside the idle speed actuator, if that doesnt work then replace the actuator. you can use the actuator from a 1.8 or 2.0, its held on with 3 screws that have a T25 torx head.

i replaced my actuator a little over a week ago after trying to solve my idle problem for months. cleanig the actuator only lasted a couple of weeks and it would start to become erratic again. it may have cost me £20 for a scrapyard actuator but it was worth it.
