Wot they said, wife's GF's make-up mirrors fit in there nicely! But they're none too happy about it being used on the car! Might be worth a trip to your local hardware store to get and inspection mirror - one on an extendible stick to make the job easier.
Long-nosed pliers, the ones with bent ends could help get in there too but be prepared for scraped knuckles any way you go about it.
No need to take the light cluster out, the black plate on the back clips off and you can get straight in there. It's easy once you get the hang of it - once you've done one side the other side will be easy.
