Sorry for another keyfob question

I have two black two button fobs for my 2001 156. Both have the correct key blade. As far as the remote and immobiliser functions are concerned, one works, the other doesn't. The one that doesn't work has a red LED that lights up when you press the buttons. The one that does work has no LED.

I know I need to get the code card from the dealer, but....

Can I be confident that the non working fob can be used with my car for both the remote functions and the immobiliser? Reading some posts suggests that the remote is no problem, but the immobiliser might be. The fact that this one has an LED, does that mean anything special?

Am I in for some more open wallet surgery?

Re: Sorry for another keyfob question

The lack of LED means nothing. Bizarrely enough there is an LED in both keys, there just isn't a window in the case to see it through in one of them. Bonkers.
If you drilled a small hole in the 'blank' one where you thought the led should be, you will be able to see it blinking. (don't actually do this of course - you may drill too far!)
