Alfa 156 Keyfob only working intermittently - HELP!
Hi everyone. I have been searching the forum and have found lots of posts about similar and virtually identical problems but I seem to have tried everything except for disconnecting the Battery.
I have a 53 plate 156 (facelift) and the keyfob can work for 2 weeks solid and then all of a sudden not work AT ALL for 2-3 days, then mysteriously come back to life. It last came back to life embarrassingly when the AA man arrived - needless to say I looked stupid. Unfortunately , it's now gone again and I'm supposed to be showing the car to a potential buyer tomorrow!!! NOOOOO!
Here's what I've tried...
1) Open door with key and put key in ignition (Alarm sounds and won't go off even with engine started)
2) I've put new batteries in both keyfobs
3) Tried taking the batteries out and holding for several seconds, then putting back in
4) closing bonnet and boot lids firmly
All that's left, and it seems fairly promising from what people say, is to disconnect the battery for 20-30mins. I would like to try this but I'm worried that the alarm is going to go off when I disconnect the battery. Can someone give me some advice on this please? Thanks in advance.
