Annoying small problem.

On my 156 2.0 TS sportwagon 2000, the fuel guage seems to fluctuate quite a lot -- but only when I turn the engine / ignition off.

So when driving, it could show around 1/4 full. I'll stop, and when I start it up again it will be around the empty mark, with warning light on....

Then when I next come to start again, it be different again. I'd say that it varies no more then about 1/4 on the dial.
any ideas?

Re: Annoying small problem.

mine does this. ive asked about it previously. you may notice it shows a low value when you start up, but during driving, it will rise to where it should be. when it stops moving, thats your level.

mine sometimes shows low to start, then rises, other times it will show the correct level.

i think it was stated that it is a quirk rather than a problem, as long as your car drives ok with it on the warning light i wouldnt worry.

i never usually let mine drop below a quarter tank-ish anyway, so im not worried about running out.

I think all alfas have fuel gauges that have a mind of their own. Ive got 2 and both fluctuate.
