I have a 04 jtdm sportwagon; recently the turbo has become louder, particularly noticeable at the beginning of a journey. The car has just been to The Alfaworkshop, and they can't find anything wrong, no loose pipe etc. They noticed that because we live in central London, the car has not had a decent run for some time, so the car was chucking out soot when they were testing the car. They reckoned it was not worth chaning the turbo just for the noise.
Do other members have any similar experiences a) of whiney turbos and b) diesels needing a good thrashing regularly so the exhaust runs cleaner?
The car also went in for the rev counter bulb failure warning light going, but let's not go there....
Colnago, Vespa, Alfa Romeo, not neccesarily in that order, working to add Ducati, Ferrari, Maserati, De Rosa, Ciocc, again not necessarily in that order
