Help 156 cutting out

Hi, this is my first post so hello to everyone.
Hope someone can help with a little problem

My Alfa 156 has started cutting out on me, i feel a little shudder then engine cuts out. It leaves battery light, oil light and injector light (Engine?) lit.
The engine cranks over ok but wont start. If i leave it for a few minutes or so it eventually starts but does not last long before same happens again.
I have only started using the car again after 2 months of it being of the road. Its now cut out 3 or 4 times. The first time it happened i called out RAC and that when it started straight away so since then ive left it a few minutes before starting it myself after cutting out.
Really annoying as it seems to happen at traffic lights, junctions etc.
Would be very grateful if someone could help with this.
My old car used to cut out and i think that was crankshaft sensor so not sure if this is similar?

Re: 156 cutting out

Defo crankshaft. You'll be pleased to note its not an expensive part nor should it take you more than an hour or two Saturday morning or twenty quid in the local grease monkey's pocket to sort
