Re: 156 JTD - why can't I overtake? (part 2)
Thanks for the words of comfort and assistance lads, but don't get me wrong, I'm fairly happy with the car at the moment, I had gotten use to the greater boost level prior to the problems beginning, but its nice to have a linear rev band back again, I can now overtake in complete confidence again. The vibration is going to be tricky to find, it is noticeable when accelerating in 3rd, 4th and 5th, foot to floor, at 2500 rpm to 3500rpm, where it then smooths out, and causes a slight shake of the whole structure. The problem with the driveshaft was at the last service when the mechanic noticed the shaft, where it bolts into the gearbox (pass. side), loose, ie. the bolts were all very loose. He tightened them up and things improved (it had been doing it for a while prior to that, usually when exiting roundabouts with a bit of left lock on, foot to floor, 3rd gear, as you do....), but its back now and doing it in a straight line: smoother the road surface more noticeable it is. Going to get the lower wishbones replaced first ( going with the powerflex pre-fitted wishbones) so they can examine the driveshaft then, and the MAF, and will see how things are then. Must also get some paintwork done and give it a good full-on valet, I've let it get a bit mucky, kinda lost interest in it till now. But my Motorhome (Hymer on a Ducato chassis) is also due a full service, so gotta prioritise, will the expense ever end............
