Only just registered today and spent some time looking through past posts to see if this subject had been covered before.
I have recently got a '53 reg 156 2.4 JTD and am having an intermittent problem with power.
Some times the 'Motor Control System Failure' alarm flashes comes on but there is no apparent change in drivability, sometimes the same alarm comes up and the car 'bucks' and 'lurches' showing a distinct loss of power. When this happens I can drive through it by putting my foot down, but when the problem goes the car suddenly shoots forward, obvious turbo fault.
I found among the past posts a number of references to turbo failure being cracks in the inlet hoses but would this cause the same alarm with no effect on the drive? or should I be looking for 2 faults?
I have had the car into a garage but they were unable to find the fault, the diagnostics showed a faulty 'override valve' (whatever that is) which was replaced but made no difference.
I am loathed to spend money on having parts fitted if they are just fishing or do I mean floundering
Be glad of any help you can give
