Hi sorry for the noob question but can someone give me an idiots guide to getting my 156 remapped?
Step 1: Fire up Google
Step 2: Search for Angel Tuning, Celtic Tuning and Red Dot Tuning.
Step 3: Give them a bell
... how's that!
Ask about power, torque and fuel economy increases, ask about prices, whether they can come to you or you have to drive to them, guarantees, what happens if you're not happy, tell them what you're looking for - economy, driveability, ultimate power? They're all friendly, honest people and they're the experts, have a look at their websites ...
All 3 companies have happy customers (and staff) here, have a search around the forums but watch out for the billy-big-balls competition of 'whoever did my map is waaaay better than yours, phnar!' and watch out for the staff plugging their companies. Make your own mind up by ringing the tuners direct and find out what suits you best.
Expect to pay around the £300 mark, the 1.9JTD m-jet engines can expect around +50bhp, +60 torques, +1-2mpg on average but can be fine tuned to suit you. I've got an Angel map on map on my 147 1.9 JTD and love it.
It's entirely up to you and your conscience whether you tell the insurance
Economy on motorway runs increases but it does suck up the fuel if you drive like a 17 year old in a Nova SR. All-in-all it's £300 well spent, go for it, you won't regret it.
