Very Very Annoyed !!!
After completing a spark plug change and air filter change on my 156 V6 yesterday, I found something which really shouldn't have been there.
Around 3 months ago, my clutch was sticking, sometimes also releasing with a heavy clunk, so my instincts lead me to replace the clutch slave cylinder. This was not at fault, however, so I booked my car into a garage to have the clutch changed.
After removing the battery tray yesterday whilst finishing my mini-service, I found a gaping hole in the side of the gearbox bellhousing, just below the plastic vent on top of the gearbox (gearbox breather???). I am 99.9% positive that this was the clutch-place that managed to do this, as I am 100% certain that the hole wasn't there when I changed the slave cylinder. It's a jagged hole, about the size of a matchbox. Unfortunately I cannot do anything about this as it has been left too long (not exactly something you check for!). As well as this, they left the brake fluid reservoir cap off rolling around in the bonnet, and charged me £500 all in for the work !
I won't be going back there, instead I will have to find a new housing for the gearbox and get someone to fit it at more expense!
