Re: Koni Problem
Just checked the clearance above the tyres and it's the same on both sides. I got it examined by a garage down the road from me (main guy there seems very good and knows what hes doing) and is of the opinion that the problem is solely down to the damper. I asked him if it could be the wishbones or even if the damper is mounted wrong and he said the test measured the damper only.
The test basically was that each wheel sat on a moveable plate that bounced the wheels up/down at high speed. It measures the vertical play in the damper and if there's a difference it indicates a faulty damper.
The results from the test were
FL 61mm / FR 41mm
RL 38mm / RR 37mm
As you can see, the front left damper is moving 20mm too much.
Got a reply from the shop I bought the springs from, gave me 2 options - send the damper back and receive a replacement after koni agree it's knackered or else I can buy a new one, send in the old and get a refund later. Sounds fair enough I suppose, they can't just send out a new damper without proof it is damaged.
