? Clutch judder..... worsening!

I've got a 54 plate 1.6TS 147 (28 thousand miles) which has started to develop a judder when pulling away. Only seems to happen when pulling away with about 1500-2000 rev's. More spirited getaways are fine with no hint of slip and the same is true when pulling away with barely any throttle.

The pedal feels fine and from what i can work out, if you pull away in second with the same revs it doesn't judder?!?!

Is this clutch or engine mounts ???

The judder is very pronounced.... whole car shakes, not just a funny feeling through the pedal

Any ideas what it is and the likely £££ damage to get fixed? Thanks

Re: ? Clutch judder..... worsening!

My 52 plate 1.6 TS did exactly the same thing just after I'd bought it, severe judder developed after only 25,000 miles in total.

The garage changed the clutch under warranty which got rid of the judder so I think that's your most likely way to go.

Turned out water had leaked from a pipe down the back of the block and some got in to the bell housing through the hole in the top as the rubber bung was missing. OK now though.

Re: ? Clutch judder..... worsening!

Judder usually indicates a worn release bearing or (more worryingly) a dodgy flywheel.

If it's just the release bearing then it's nothing to worry about, but do start saving up for a clutch change.
