Twin Cat Problem On 2002 156 1.8t
I had a rattle on the exhaust system, this turned out to be one of the cats (there are 2 cats right near to the engine block on my alfa, and one of them has a loose honeycomb apparantly).
The local garage ordered the new twin cat pipe and tried to fit it. they told me that the pipe fits onto the manifold perfect.... but the other end of the pipe... (just past the flex part) would not reach and fit onto the rest of the exhaust pipe.
I said well clearly you have ordered the wrong part, but they were adamant that the correct part had been ordered.... unfortunately i forgot to ask the mechanic what part number he had ordered,as i walked out !!
I have the following questions :
1. does anyone know what the correct part number is ?
(2002 alfa 156 sportwagon 1.8ts... its the one with the upgraded interior) If you look into the engine bay, you can actually see the 2 cats at the bottom of the exhaust manifold - the 4 outlets go into 2 cats then into 1 exhaust pipe)
2. is this a common problem, is the part not available anymore, or is it possible that a spurious exhaust system has been fitted to teh car in the past.
3. also ....I live in the liverpool area... can anyone reccomend a decent alfa specialist, as this job is currently in the region of £400
sorry for the length of this post....
