Slow cranking on 05 GT JTS

Before we start, I know that cold weather affects the cranking speed of any motor, due to oil viscosity and battery condition.

So, My 05 GT JTS cranking speed seems to be getting slower and slower in the mornings. It hasn't failed yet, but I am a little concerned. OK later in the day when the car and weather have warmed up.

What do we reckon the life of a battery should be? I seem to remember seeing somthing on here about the batteries on GT's not really being man enough for the job and were worth uprating.

Any thoughts?

Most batteries are only guaranteed three years. I had one that just lasted 6, but new one is now on the way out and is just over 3 years old!

BTW check the prices with your local dealer as they sometimes have special offers on these ... should be around £60.

Either your battery is on the way out, or it is not being recharged by the alternator properly, or maybe a wire connection to the starter is becoming contaminated with dirt/grease/oil.

If your battery were really on the way out, surely you would get all the daft electronic problems and messages.

Check the alternator and the feed to the battery and the starter first.

My 145 had a battery that lasted 8 years, but then I did very little short distance type driving.
