Squeaky Noise Under Braking

My 156 has had squeaky brakes since I got it, the pads and I think discs as well had been replaced only a few months before I got the car, and I've not bothered doing anything about it. However in the last few days, it's developed an electronicy 'chattering' noise under braking. Not all the time, and I can't quite put my finger on exactly when it happens other than that it's generally when I'm coming to a stop.

The noise seems to be coming from the front left wheel, or even perhaps from inside the car. It's hard to describe but sounds like a sort of high-pitched beep that repeats quite quickly, and it's a different tone from the alarm buzzer despite coming from the same sort of area.

I've described it as best as I can and it's certainly very strange. I haven't the first idea what it could be - anyone any suggestions?

Re: Squeaky Noise Under Braking

Sounds like the sliders on one or more of the calipers.
Make sure they move freely, if not follow the instructions on;

How to stop your Alfa Brakes from Squealing

I had the same problem and it didn't cost me a penny to fix, also got
to know my alfas braking inside out.

Good luck
