Guys, bear in mind the original poster's problem was 6 years ago.....it "might" have been sorted by now.....
For ABR - changing the potentiometer is a bit awkward because of its location and the access, but it isn't technically difficult. However you do need to check a few things before starting out - ideally get the part number off your existing pot to make sure you get the correct replacement....and there are a few types - some have a plug connector within about 6" of the pedal, others have the plug connector in the passenger footwell, with the cable from the pedal running behind the heater - which makes it a PITA to replace.
