Re: 156 boot problem !!

If the key doesn't work, your only option is to try and get to the back of the mechanism via the hatch in the back seat armrest.

Re: 156 boot problem !!

The 156 boot opens in 3 ways.

Mechanical handle by drivers seat (mechanical??? Why no electric swith like the "old fashioned" 145!!??)
Button on key
lock on boot lid (swivel the alfa badge and you will find it).

Re: 156 boot problem !!

Same thing happened to me a few days ago.

Click the link above and you'll find the answer, although I found the quickest way to fix it was to remove the lock from the inside. Open the hatch in the back seat, get some light in there, then reach the two 10m bolts on the lock with the longest extension bar you can find. The lock should spring open when you've pulled the bolts out

Re: 156 boot problem !!

thanks for the tips, it turns out that the tiny spring that makes the clasp operate had broken so it could not operate with the release in the footwell or the key,an elastic band is doing the job a treat at the moment until i can order a new spring up ,thanks again Bullly
