Re: HEADLIGHTS changing xeon to standard ?
I replaced a ballast unit yesterday, D/side, (cost €200, plus labour) the mechanic showed me the old unit and headlamp. Water is getting into the lamp and the design of the setup is perfect for allowing the water to then drain down into the ballast unit. Took the old unit home and opened it up (4 bolts and it prise it open), there is a circuit board inside which is covered in dirty mucky gunge. I'm going to see if I can get it cleaned up now that its dry, and then test it, keeping it for a spare if it works again. But alas, replacing it does not seem to have solved the problem, the mechanic showed me the headlamp as well, which he reckoned was still going to let water in and should be replaced at cost of €800. I told him to seal it as best as he could for the moment, so, when he put it back together, presto, two fully functioning xenons. They then WASHED the car and gave it too me. Arrive home, no D/Side xenon. Going back to see what can be done today. Very annoying..........
