Wave 147 Droplinks replacement guide / tut ?

I've been searching through ze past threads trying to find a how-to guide for replacing front and back Drop-links on a 147 (doing mine this week)

If anyone has a link in their favorites to such a guide? (preferably photo guide) please can they post it.

Many thankies.

Re: 147 Droplinks replacement guide / tut ?

PC: No that's the rear transverse arms ... drop links are much easier except they often don't want to come off.

Kaws: Check my website '+': click on droplinks pictures. Since then I've replaced both again with original Alfa parts.

The drop links are only held on by a nut at each end, but the bolts have a torx centre and will turn unless held - if OEM ones have already been put on, you might find flats on the balljoint to hold it steady, but you will need a thin spanner. Often it it quicker and simpler to cut them off. You will need to put the car on axle stands and be able to lift the suspension arm slighly to take the weight off the strut to put the new drop links back. I also had to fit some thin washers to the anti-roll bar end to allow the nut to tighten properly (these were original Alfa parts too!).

If you buy new droplinks from Alfa, you will need to buy nuts separately .. sometimes the threads are different at each end!! If you buy OEM ones from somewhere like shop4parts or ebspares, they come with nuts. If you buy them off ebay, expect to replace them in a few months!!!

cheers, Gary
