hi guys thanks 4 the info, ive heard sum stuff about door opening and pump priming, what does this mean if u cant hear the pump? I have a generic scan tool and the fault code is 1769 which means? what should i do to find the fault?

Oh i almost forgot the vehicle says selespeed failure on dash and it just goes to neutral while driving then you have to stop and switch off restart then it will happen later again

David C states that the brushes in the pump can wear out over time, and the pump stops working, or works intermittently sometimes, with a good slap! Check out all of the selespeed backposts, as you will find a host of answers there, which make interesting reading, and may help you with your problems. Someone who has the appropriate diagnostics, may be able to help with your fault code.:
