147 '57 plate Sport Q2 lost its 'Whoosh'?

I have been really enjoying my brand new Alfa, been waving and flashing at all the other AO's when i see them on my travels. If you see a Black 147 with silver wing mirrors, say hello - it could be me!

Anyway - the point of my post...

When i bought the Alfa, if i put my foot down it let out a 'whoosh' ing noise. Both from the exhaust/rear of the car and also through the vent on the windscreen. I presumed this was the turbo thingy sucking up some air and redirecting it from the vents, 'causing the noise.

Now, i was pootling along the M6 and the car dies. Revs go, speed goes, i'm in limp home mode. AA guy comes out and sees it's the turbo inlet valve that's just popped off. He just screwed it back into place and seated it more firmly.

I've noticed that it no longer makes the Whoosing noise and i'm pretty sure it's lost a bit of its Bite.

Now, i could be experiencing the newness of the car wearing off and its perkiness slipping. The noise could have been a problem with the inlet not being seated properly or it could be the result of something not being done.

So, does anyone have a 147 sport and knows what i'm talking of?

Thanks for any input.

I'd say it's still under warranty and is Alfas responsibility to repair, But as you say it went into "limp home" mode they need to reset the ecu and relearn the characteristics,

Hello Smaky!

Thanks for your post.

Yes, it's definatly still under warranty i've had a few things done. The horn didn't work on delivery and some odd bits of plastic have fallen off!!

I will give them a call. I'm sure the AA guy said he had reset the ECU buut i guess something might not have been done.

Do you think that the 'whoosh' of the fan in the dash vents should be happening?
