basically, bought the pro system and booked it in with Alfaman in NW london. when they disassembled the car all the discs were T'd off and i was grinding metal with the pads. Virtually every single bolt and nut was seized on, hence 10 hours labour charge. I walked away, unable to look when they started hot'n'colding and banging seven shades of **** out of it!
On the plus side, they discovered that the front passenger side suspension spring was broken, near the top, just clean broke! It made me feel mildly better - mildly. At least the wishbones were ok. No idea if i was ripped off for the discs and pads but when it's all apart they've got you by the short and curly's really.
Bought the vredesteins from mytyres.co.uk as i reckoned no sense in having better suspension only to have the , frankly, appalling 'accelera *****' tyres on (don't buy 'em if you're offered 'em - rubbish in all weathers. They were on the car when i bought it)
The good thing is now it handles like it should and you don't end up with everyone in the passenger footwell when going round a roundabout
Given it a thorough test round the speed bumps and pot holes of s.london - it's actually better than before, except it scrapes the undertray on those poxy 'mini' bumps that don't go all the way across the road.
As for Alfaman services...pretty good. You know your in reasonable hands when the mechanics personal drive is a 156 gta (and very nice it is too!) Only fault - their tracking machine is way off. Apparently they've just had it recalibrated and i had to turn right round and take it back 'cos the steering wheel wasn't centred. Mmmm......
Also of note, they have tons of leather interiors and alloys knocking about up there for those interested. They quoted me £250 an interior, £350 fitted.
Now, just gotta tell Mrs.D why we're not going on holiday this year
